In light of the recent spate of police shooting African-Americans in the USA, I designed this LEGO sign declaring my solidarity with the victims and their loved ones.
Black Lives Matter is a movement that started in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer and went on in the form of protests against violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.
I believe that everyone deserves the same basic rights of due process and respect regardless of their race and created this model to show my support for the movement.
The LEGO model consists of letters in a fairly simple variable-width 5×5 block font. The letters are built out of 2xN white bricks with the wall made of 1xN black bricks. The letters provide reinforcement of the wall, but there is a weak spot in the blank rows between words so I attached Technic beams to the back to reinforce the model.
I created step by step instructions to build this sign, if you want to make one. You can view each page of the instructions as an image (pages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and the parts list) or by downloading the PDF. See all the photos in the Flickr album (slideshow)
So nice to see your creativity! Have you written your own book? Good job on the teddy bear! He’s wonderful!
No, I’ve thought about doing a LEGO book but haven’t figured out what subject to do it on, or mustered the motivation to write it.
